About ANNA VIENNA HO
Born in Hong Kong, Anna Vienna Ho is a versatile musician who has worked as a concert pianist, répétiteur, composer, opera singer and conductor for a number of music organizations, including Welsh National Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, Tête à Tête Opera Festival, Opera Novella, London Oriana Choir, London Gay Symphony Orchestra and Bel Canto Singers among others. She has been selected as a Du Vert a L’infini festival Artist(France), RMN Classical Artist(UK), Syntropy Artist(UK) and the Montpelier Arts Center Classical Recital Artist(US).
Anna gained an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Music in Piano Performance with distinction from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University. She was a recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including Malcolm John Bullock Memorial Trust Award, Birmingham Conservatoire Association Award and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire International Students Scholarship, HKSAR Talent Development Scholarship and more.
Anna was the winner of numerous international piano competitions, including Concours International Leopold Bellan, Rome International Music Competition, International Robert Schumann Klavier Welttbert, Internationaler Deutscher Irmler-Klavierwettbewerb, International Moscow Music Competition and Abergavenny Eisteddfod Y Fenni among others.
As a pianist, Anna has given solo recitals and performed in many concert venue in Asia and Europe, including Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Town Hall, Parco della Musica, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall and Hong Kong City Hall. She has been frequently invited to perform in different concert series, including Musica del Cuore, Montpelier Arts Center Classical Recital, CityU Arts Festival, Iris Axon Concert, CBSO Debussy Festival, Birmingham Cathedral, Rugby Festival of Culture and more. Besides performing as a soloist, Anna is also an experienced collaborative pianist who has performed in various chamber recitals and collaborated with many choirs and orchestras. She has also worked as a repetiteur for Opera Novella, Midland Opera, Welsh National Opera and Bel Canto Singers.
Anna has also appeared frequently as a vocalist. Passionate about opera, Anna has participated in different opera performances in Hong Kong and the UK. She has sung the role of Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore, Frasquita in Carmen, Lay Sister in Suor Angelica for Musica Viva, Geraldine in A hand of Bridge for HKIIM, The Third Apparition in Verdi’s Macbeth for Opera In A Box and Gherardino in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi for the London Gay Symphony Orchestra. She was the prize winner of several music festivals, including the Accord International Music Competition, Holmfirth Musical Festival, Bristol Music Festival, Coulsdon and Purley Festival, Basingstoke Music Festival among others.
Anna’s compositions include instrumental, vocal, electroacoustic, multi-media and operatic works, which were premiered around the world by various musicians. She has collaborated and was commissioned by many organizations, including the New Generation 2014(“The Forester”, for String Quartet), London Oriana Choir(“The Infinite Shining Heavens” for SATB choir), Birmingham Opera Company(“It Gets Lighter From Here” digital project), David Bohn’s Twenty Seconds of 2020 project(“Chase”, for solo Clavietta), Fifteen Minutes of Fame project(“Fedora”, for solo bass flute), Tête à Tête Opera Festival(“Buddha and the Monkey King”, “The Monk of the River” & “The Monster of Gao Village”), Château du Fresne-Saint-Mamès(“Sea Creatures in our Minds and Hearts”), K622 Clarinet ensemble(“Inevitable” for clarinet quartet), among others. She was the recipient of the Global Best Creative Awards 2025.
An enthusiastic educator, Anna has been teaching piano for many years and has worked as a conductor of choirs and orchestras, as well as a vocal teacher for various music organizations and schools. She has also served as an examiner and piano instructor at the Hong Kong International Institute of Music (HKIIM), where she has been invited to be the course instructor for intensive courses such as “Play by Memory for Pianists,” “Rach’s Minimalism Piano Workshop and Showcase,” and “Serenity of Spring: Minimalism Music Workshop and Showcase Concert.” Additionally, she was one of the adjudicators at the Festival of Instrumental and Vocal Arts, the International Online Music Competition in Russia, and the International Competition for Musicians in Russia, among others. She is a lecturer at HKIIM and a conductor at Yip’s Children’s Choir, as well as at several secondary and primary schools. Furthermore, she is the co-artistic director of Hong Kong Opera Makers and one of the reviewers at the Radda Rise Competitions and Achievement Festivals.
